Milan witnessed a thrilling match on Monday as Marko Arnautovic’s first league goal of the season propelled Inter Milan to a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina, allowing them to reclaim the second spot in Serie A.
This victory also served as a form of retribution for Inter, who suffered a 3-0 defeat against Fiorentina in the previously rescheduled match just a week earlier, and it brought them within a single point of league leaders Napoli.

The match drew an impressive crowd of over 67,000 spectators at San Siro, who cheered as Arnautovic headed in the decisive goal just seven minutes into the second half.
Inter Milan opened the scoring in the first half, with key striker Lautaro Martinez’s header contributing to the tally. The goal, however, was credited as an own goal to Marin Pongra?i? due to a deflection.

Just before halftime, Fiorentina managed to equalize with a penalty awarded after a handball review with the video assistant referee (VAR). Initially, the referee dismissed appeals for a handball by Matteo Darmian, but following a VAR examination, a penalty was granted, and Rolando Mandragora successfully converted it.

Despite the setback, Arnautovic’s header ultimately sealed the fate of the match, earning Inter the coveted three points and leaving Fiorentina in sixth place on the Serie A leaderboard.
