NEW YORK — On the rooftop of a towering skyscraper, Wes Gordon showcased his newest collection for Carolina Herrera during New York Fashion Week, captivating an enthusiastic audience.
Models elegantly walked down the runway, bedecked with an impressive display of 3,000 burgundy ranunculus flowers while a playlist of Gordon’s “personal assortment of songs,” including the classic “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, provided a musical backdrop. The stunning setting featured expansive floor-to-ceiling windows on the 48th floor, offering a breathtaking view of the blue sky and the iconic skyline of New York City.
At 38 years old, Gordon stepped into the role of creative director for the brand after the retirement of its namesake, Carolina Herrera, in 2018. For his fall 2025 collection, Gordon presented an assertive lineup of 66 distinct looks that effortlessly blended femininity with masculinity. The collection featured a myriad of styles, from delicately crafted tweed mini dresses to sharply tailored trousers and blazers.
Audiences were treated to sets of fine floral lace, which were followed by a selection of nearly transparent embroidered gowns. Many outfits were beautifully accentuated with gold buttons, striking earrings, or rose appliqués, enhancing the overall elegance of the presentation.
The piece that resonated most with Gordon was the final look of the evening, which he referred to in the show notes as “a dramatic cape with rosette in black silk faille and black jewel macrame sleeveless dress.”
In a discussion after the show, Gordon revealed the inspiration behind his collection: “The starting point was my favorite book of all time, which is also my favorite movie, a film called ‘Being There.’ The book is authored by Jerzy Kosi?ski, and the film features Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine. Released in 1979, it coincides with the founding period of Herrera,” he shared. “Its poetic, romantic ambiance really influenced the direction I wanted to take.”
Among the VIP attendees were Dove Cameron, Chloe Fineman, Emmy Rossum, and Nicole Scherzinger. Herrera, also present along with her family, expressed her admiration after viewing the collection for the first time, telling Gordon, “It was beautiful.”
