DES MOINES, Iowa — In an exciting showdown on Saturday night, Bennett Stirtz led the charge for Drake with a stellar performance, scoring 20 points and helping his team secure an 85-81 overtime victory against Indiana State, marking the Bulldogs’ tenth consecutive win.
Stirtz contributed crucial free throws in the closing moments, while Tavion Banks, who added 11 points to the scoreboard, also demonstrated his prowess in overtime by scoring seven of his points during that critical period. This helped propel Drake ahead 81-76, and they maintained their lead for the last 65 seconds of the game.
In addition to his scoring, Stirtz also provided seven assists to his teammates. The Bulldogs now hold an impressive season record of 22 wins and 2 losses, standing 12-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Daniel Abreu was another key player for Drake, finishing with 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds, while Isaiah Jackson contributed 13 points to the effort.
The Sycamores’ Samage Teel was the standout for his team, netting an impressive 26 points along with four assists. His efforts were supported by Aaron Gray, who tallied 17 points along with 12 rebounds and two steals. Jaden Daughtry also made valuable contributions, finishing the game with 15 points.
