BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Derrick Butler contributed significantly from the bench, scoring 19 points, which propelled Bowling Green to a 67-53 triumph over Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Butler was impressive, hitting 6 of 10 shots from the field, including 5 of 7 from beyond the arc, and also made 2 out of 3 free throws. Trey Thomas complemented Butler’s performance by adding 12 points, with a shooting line of 4 for 11, including 4 of 6 on three-pointers. Jamai Felt rounded out the key contributors with 11 points, showcasing an efficient shooting display by connecting on 5 of 6 attempts.

For the Chanticleers, Joshua Meo stood out as the leading scorer with 13 points. Colin Granger made his mark by providing nine points and grabbing an impressive 12 rebounds, while Jordan Battle also contributed nine points along with three steals. Unfortunately for Coastal Carolina, this defeat marked their tenth consecutive loss of the season.

Bowling Green seized the initiative early, taking the lead with 16:25 left in the first half and managed to maintain it throughout the game. Thomas led the scoring for his team in the initial period with nine points, helping them to a comfortable 33-21 advantage at halftime. The Falcons significantly increased their lead in the second half, launching a 15-2 scoring spree that took their advantage from 12 to as much as 25 points. They maintained a slight edge in scoring in the latter half, with Butler leading the way, scoring 11 points after halftime.

Looking ahead, Bowling Green’s next matchup will be at home against Ohio on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina is set to play host to Appalachian State on Thursday.
