ATHENS, Ohio — In a decisive matchup on Saturday, Myles Tate showcased his skills by scoring 27 points, leading Appalachian State to a 72-59 win over Ohio.
In addition to his impressive scoring, Tate contributed significantly with five rebounds and seven assists, supporting his team’s overall performance. The Mountaineers improved their record to 15 wins and 9 losses, with an 8-4 standing in the Sun Belt Conference. Dior Conners also made a notable impact, shooting 5 of 10 (including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc) to add 14 points to the scoreboard. Meanwhile, Jalil Beaubrun had a perfect shooting night, finishing with 11 points, making all five of his field goals and converting 1 of 4 free throws.
For the Bobcats, who now hold a record of 12 wins and 11 losses and stand at 6-4 in the Mid-American Conference, AJ Brown was the standout performer, registering 18 points and grabbing six rebounds. Elijah Elliott contributed with 14 points, while Jackson Paveletzke added 12 points along with six rebounds.
The first half saw Tate score nine points, but Appalachian State entered halftime trailing 34-28. However, with a strong performance in the second half, where Tate scored 18 points, the Mountaineers surged ahead and ultimately secured a 13-point victory.
Looking ahead, Appalachian State will be facing Coastal Carolina on the road this Thursday, and Ohio is scheduled to play against Bowling Green on Tuesday.
