A former personal assistant to Michael Bidwill, the owner of the Arizona Cardinals, has initiated legal action against him, alleging verbal abuse throughout her employment with the football organization.

Brittany Neuheisel, who was part of the Cardinals’ staff from 2019 until last month, filed her lawsuit in the Superior Court of Maricopa County, with legal representation from attorney Michael Caspino.

The legal document alleges various claims including constructive discharge, wrongful discharge, discrimination, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Neuheisel, aged 54, asserts that she endured sustained harassment due to her reluctance to distance herself from family members and her refusal to engage in illicit activities. Additionally, the lawsuit contends that Bidwill expressed a desire to replace her with someone considered “young, beautiful and athletic.”

The lawsuit provides further instances, indicating that Bidwill requested Neuheisel to supply false information on certain federal and international disclosure documents linked to his travel on a private jet. It is also claimed that when she voiced concerns regarding these requests, he belittled her religious beliefs, stating, “Do it and then go to confession!”

Neuheisel is pursuing a jury trial, seeking unspecified damages for her claims.

In response to the allegations, the Cardinals issued a statement on Friday, indicating their awareness of the lawsuit. The statement elaborated that the team recently received an email from a plaintiff’s lawyer based in California, who threatened legal action if the organization did not comply with demands for a significant sum of money by the next day.

The Cardinals declined these demands, leading the attorney to file the lawsuit. The organization expressed surprise at the claims and firmly denies all allegations, vowing to contest the lawsuit on its legal merits in the proper venue.

The team has stated they will refrain from making additional comments due to the current legal proceedings.
