Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has likely sustained a calf injury during the team’s recent 4-0 defeat against Liverpool, as stated by head coach Ange Postecoglou.
The Brazilian forward was taken off the pitch just before the halftime break in the second leg of the English League Cup semifinal held at Anfield.
Postecoglou noted, “It appears to be a calf issue. He did not seem to be in good shape after the match, so this injury is likely to be added to our growing list of sidelined players.”
Richarlison has faced numerous injury challenges since his arrival at Tottenham from Everton in 2022.
He experienced a calf injury early in his initial season and had to undergo groin surgery in 2023. Earlier this season, he was also sidelined due to a hamstring injury.
Liverpool won the semifinal with a 4-1 aggregate score and will compete against Newcastle in the League Cup final scheduled for March 16.
