Fiala nets a pair as Kings continue their streak with 6-3 victory against Canadiens

LOS ANGELES — In a thrilling matchup on Wednesday night, Kevin Fiala netted two goals, while Warren Foegele converted a penalty shot, helping the Los Angeles Kings secure a 6-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

Joining Fiala on the scoresheet were Vladislav Gavrikov, Brandt Clarke, and Trevor Moore, contributing to a solid offensive display from the Kings, who have now triumphantly won 11 of their last 12 games at home. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper stood strong with 18 saves during the game.

Los Angeles carried the momentum from a recent 4-2 victory at Carolina into the first game of a six-game homestand, which strategically surrounds the forthcoming 4 Nations Face-off international tournament.

On the other side, the Canadiens had goals from Mike Matheson and Alexandre Carrier but are struggling with form, losing six out of their last seven matches. Jakub Dobes has been busy in net, making 32 saves for Montreal.

Fiala’s goals came through powerful one-timers from the right circle in the third period. His second goal arrived just 35 seconds after Logan Mailloux brought the Canadiens to within a goal at 4-3, restoring the Kings’ two-goal advantage with under seven minutes to play.

As for noteworthy points from the game, Patrik Laine of the Canadiens has achieved 12 goals and six assists in his initial 20 games since recovering from a preseason knee injury; however, he has been unable to score in the last six games.

For the Kings, after a dry spell of scoring two goals or less in seven consecutive games—including back-to-back shutouts against Florida and Tampa Bay—they appear to have rekindled their offensive prowess.

A significant highlight of the game was Brandt Clarke, who scored his first goal this season just 15 seconds into the third period, enhancing the Kings’ lead to 3-1 after being a healthy scratch in the previous two games.

On an individual level, Fiala’s performance featured four goals in his last two outings, effectively marking his sixth consecutive season of reaching the 20-goal milestone.

Looking ahead, the Canadiens are set to host the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, while the Kings will take on the Dallas Stars at home on Friday.
