Myles Corey delivered an impressive performance by scoring 27 points and hitting 7 of 8 attempts from beyond the arc, helping South Alabama secure a decisive 84-59 victory over Coastal Carolina on Wednesday evening.
Corey contributed six rebounds to the Jaguars’ success, bringing their record to 16-8 overall and 8-4 in the Sun Belt Conference. Barry Dunning Jr. also made a significant impact, adding 15 points with a shooting efficiency of 7 for 13 from the field while matching Corey with six rebounds. Elijah Ormiston completed the scoring for South Alabama with 12 points, having shot 4 for 6 from field goals, including 1 for 3 from three-point range, along with a perfect 3 for 3 at the free-throw line.
For the Chanticleers, Jordan Battle led the scoring effort with 23 points, including seven three-pointers. Henry Abraham contributed 15 points and provided four assists for Coastal Carolina. Rasheed Jones also made his mark with 11 points while handing out seven assists. Unfortunately for the Chanticleers, this defeat marks their ninth consecutive loss.
Both teams showed proficiency from long range, matching each other with 15 three-pointers throughout the contest.
Looking ahead, South Alabama is set to visit Akron on Saturday, while Coastal Carolina will travel to Bowling Green for their next matchup.
