Timberwolves Confirm Randle’s Groin Strain; Out for a Minimum of Two Weeks

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle is set to miss at least the period leading up to the All-Star break due to a strained right groin that he sustained last week.

On Wednesday, the Timberwolves announced prior to their game against the Chicago Bulls that Randle will undergo a re-evaluation in two weeks. An MRI indicated that he has a strain in his right adductor muscle, which is connected to the groin area, and this diagnosis was supported by a second opinion from a specialist.

Randle suffered the injury during a game against the Utah Jazz last Thursday. This situation implies that he will be absent for a minimum of eight games. Following the All-Star break, the Timberwolves are scheduled to play against Oklahoma City on February 23, which will mark Randle’s expected return, contingent on the outcomes of his re-evaluation.

In addition to Randle, the team is also missing guard Donte DiVincenzo due to an injury to his big toe. DiVincenzo is also set to be assessed during the All-Star break, leading to his absence extending to 16 games by that time.

Both Randle and DiVincenzo were brought to the Timberwolves in a trade with the New York Knicks just before the start of training camp, which involved center Karl-Anthony Towns. The Timberwolves are hoping to welcome back their injured players soon to help improve their standings as they move further into the season.
