LUBBOCK, Texas — Chance McMillian led the No. 13 Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 73-59 victory over the Baylor Bears on Tuesday evening, contributing an impressive 19 points, including three consecutive three-point shots during a critical stretch in the second half.

McMillian’s three-pointers, which came within a quick 69-second span, helped the Red Raiders restore a 10-point lead. This victory marked Texas Tech’s seventh consecutive win and their ninth in the last ten games, improving their record to 18-4 overall and 9-2 in the Big 12. Teammates Darrion Williams and Elijah Hawkins added 17 and 13 points, respectively, with the team finishing with a total of 11 three-pointers made throughout the game.

On the other side, Norchad Omier achieved his 79th career double-double for Baylor, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. He continues to hold the title of the NCAA’s active career leader in double-doubles and now ranks 10th on the all-time list.

Robert Wright contributed 15 points for the Bears, while Jeremy Roach returned to action after missing four games due to concussion protocol, managing 12 points despite a challenging 3-of-11 shooting performance. Josh Ojianwuna also joined in with 10 points.

A key absence for Baylor was freshman VJ Edgecombe, who did not play due to a lower body injury sustained during their comeback victory over then-No. 11 Kansas just days earlier. Baylor trailed by 10 at halftime, but made a spirited effort to get within three points thanks to a three-point play by Omier, which capped off a 10-0 run in less than two minutes. However, the Bears struggled afterwards, missing their next eight shots.

Texas Tech followed up their recent triumph over then-No. 6 Houston with this impressive performance, managing to maintain a lead for the entire second half in what was their only regular-season clash with Baylor this season.

A critical moment in the game came when McMillian began his sequence of three-pointers, starting with a second-chance shot assisted by Hawkins with just over ten minutes remaining.

In terms of individual performance, McMillian distinguished himself as the Big 12’s leading three-point shooter, successfully making 5 of 11 attempts against the Bears, elevating his season shooting percentage from long range to an impressive 45.4% (55 of 121).

Looking ahead, Baylor is set to play at home against UCF on Saturday, while Texas Tech will face a challenging matchup against No. 20 Arizona.
