Tim Hill has decided to remain with the New York Yankees after reaching a one-year contract agreement worth $2.85 million, as confirmed by a source familiar with the situation.
According to the insider, who wished to remain anonymous due to the contract still needing to pass a physical exam, Hill’s deal comprises a $2.5 million salary for the current year, along with a team option valued at $3 million for 2026, which comes with a $350,000 buyout. This development was initially reported by ESPN.
As it stands, the Yankees currently lack a left-handed reliever on their 40-man roster, and Hill’s addition will fill that gap.
Hill, who is about to celebrate his 35th birthday, previously was on a $1.8 million contract with the Chicago White Sox during the last season. However, he was released from the team on June 18 after completing 27 appearances, where he held a record of 1-0 along with a 5.87 ERA over 23 innings pitched.
Shortly after his release, he signed with the Yankees on June 20, where he found success, accumulating a 1-0 record with an impressive 2.05 ERA across 35 appearances. Hill also showcased his talent during the postseason, posting a remarkable 1.08 ERA in 10 playoff games.
