The tournament field includes just three players from the top 10 of the world rankings. Luke Clanton, a junior from Florida State, has entered on a sponsor exemption and could earn a PGA Tour card with a top-10 finish. Viktor Hovland withdrew, while U.S. Amateur champion Jose Luis Ballester, representing Arizona State, received a sponsor exemption. Highlights: Last year’s Founders Cup saw Rose Zhang take home the title when the event was held in May in New Jersey. Following a sponsorship change, the tournament has shifted to Florida and replaced the LPGA Drive On event. Nelly Korda previously triumphed at the LPGA Drive On at this same course. A Lim Kim has impressively won her last two titles without trailing after any round. The Founders Cup made its debut in 2011 in Arizona, with Karrie Webb as the first champion, who later advocated for the LPGA founders’ induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame. Both Brittany Lincicome and Lexi Thompson are competing again following their announcements to lessen their future involvement.

Notably, Jon Rahm’s team has opted not to continue with Eugenio Chacarra while acquiring Tom McKibbin. For 2025, LIV has not attracted significant high-ranking players. A new television arrangement has emerged, with Fox Sports as the network partner, a shift from the previous two years with The CW Network. Highlights: Entering its 28th year, this tournament is a key part of the European tour “International swing.” Only three players in the top 100 world rankings are participating this week. Among the players is Antoine Rozner, who earned his PGA Tour card last year and previously won the Qatar Masters in 2021 with an impressive 60-foot putt. Brandon Wu and Troy Merritt are also competing, both of whom are PGA Tour players ranked between 126 and 200 in the FedEx Cup standings. Past champions of the event include well-known names such as Adam Scott, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Paul Lawrie, and Sergio Garcia. This marks the fourth stop of the European tour in the Middle East before returning to conclude the season in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the fall.

Els has now claimed titles across four Hawaiian islands. The tournament field includes notable players such as Steven Alker, Padraig Harrington, David Duval, and Justin Leonard, with Harrington also being a past winner in Morocco. The event concludes on Saturday, allowing players to transition to Florida for the subsequent tournament.
