First visit to Mexico: Hegseth pledges thousands of troops for border security

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stormed the US-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, making bold promises. He pledged full Pentagon support to Border Patrol. His mission? Achieve “operational control” over the frontier.

Troops deployed to stop an “invasion”

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Hegseth made his stance clear. He said thousands of additional troops were deployed to assist overwhelmed border agents. Their job is no longer “babysitting” but stopping what he called an “invasion.”

Biden’s policies led to chaos, claims Hegseth

The Biden administration’s border policies, according to Hegseth, led to chaos. He claimed that during Biden’s term, approximately 8 million illegal migrants crossed into the US. That era is over. President Trump has taken swift action. He immediately ordered the military to fortify the border. He also declared a national emergency over illegal crossings.

Trump orders migrant detention at Guantanamo Bay

Trump’s orders don’t stop there. He directed Hegseth to prepare Guantanamo Bay for 30,000 illegal migrants. The defense secretary called it the “perfect place” for detaining “hardened criminals.” Among them, he singled out the notorious Tren de Aragua gangbangers. The plan? Hold them there before deportation.

Defense department ready for action

Any assets necessary at the Defense Department to support expulsion and detention are on the table,” Hegseth emphasized. He was not alone. President Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, stood beside him. Together, they made it clear: the border will be secured.

Troops to be stationed in Santa Teresa

Hegseth’s visit included Santa Teresa, New Mexico. That’s where reserve and active-duty troops are expected to be stationed. Fort Bliss officials confirmed his presence. The message? Trump’s administration is delivering on tough immigration policies.

Military commitment to border security

The Defense Secretary made an unmistakable promise on January 27. “Whatever is needed at the border will be provided.” He assured Americans that the Defense Department would protect the country’s territorial integrity. He vowed support from reservists, National Guardsmen, and active-duty personnel.

Hegseth witnesses border efforts firsthand

During his trip, Hegseth visited Joint Task Force North. He wanted to witness firsthand the military’s efforts in assisting Customs and Border Protection. Troops and agents snapped photos with him before he addressed key concerns. Topics included Guantanamo Bay detentions and Trump’s expanded border security plans.

Trump’s border crackdown begins

Border Czar Tom Homan left no room for doubt. “Border security is national security,” he declared. He called Trump a “game changer” when it comes to border control.

Hegseth reinforced that statement. “We are tasked with controlling every inch of the Southern border,” he said. He left with a final warning: “Everything is on the table when it comes to securing the border and dealing with cartels.”

Trump’s administration is moving fast. The message from the border? No more open gates. The military is ready, and the crackdown has begun.
