TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Amarr Knox delivered an outstanding performance, recording a personal best of 32 points, as Alabama State narrowly secured a 67-66 win against Florida A&M on Monday evening.
With just over a minute left in the game, Knox hit a crucial 3-pointer to put Alabama State ahead 66-62. In a bid to extend their lead further, TJ Madlock converted one of two free throws with 19 seconds on the clock, increasing the Hornets’ lead to five. However, Florida A&M’s Shaqir O’Neal quickly responded with a stunning four-point play that decreased the deficit to just a single point.
In the contest, Knox was impressive, shooting 10 of 18 overall, including 3 for 7 from beyond the arc, and finishing with a remarkable 9 for 10 from the charity stripe. The Hornets improved their season record to 9-13, with a 5-4 standing in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Madlock also contributed significantly, tallying 13 points alongside 11 rebounds, while CJ Hines matched his points total with 13 of his own.
Sterling Young led Florida A&M with 21 points, showcasing his scoring ability. Milton Matthews added 15 points, whereas Kaleb Washington contributed with nine points and seven rebounds. The defeat halted what had been a strong five-game winning streak for the Rattlers.
