Southern Miss defeats Georgia Southern with a score of 72-68

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Denijay Harris contributed significantly to Southern Miss’ performance on Saturday night, scoring 19 points in their 72-68 victory against Georgia Southern.

In addition to his points, Harris secured six rebounds for the Golden Eagles, improving their record to 10 wins and 13 losses, with a 5-6 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. Neftali Alvarez supported the team with 13 points, demonstrating efficiency by making 6 out of 11 attempts from the field, and he also collected six rebounds along with three steals. Andre Curbelo had a solid outing as well, finishing the game with 12 points, pulling down seven rebounds, assisting seven times, and making four steals, hitting 4 of 11 from the field and a perfect 3 for 3 from the free-throw line.

On the opposing side, Georgia Southern, with an overall record of 11 wins and 12 losses, including 4-7 in the conference, was led by Adante’ Holiman, who scored 24 points and had four steals. Bradley Douglas contributed 10 points and three steals, while Tyson Brown was instrumental in rebounding, securing 12 boards for the Eagles.

Both squads are set to continue their campaigns on Wednesday, with Southern Miss heading to Appalachian State, while Georgia Southern will host Louisiana.
