RICHMOND, Va. — Max Shulga played a key role in VCU’s dominant performance against Richmond, contributing 20 points to help secure a 90-49 victory on Saturday evening.
Shulga also recorded six rebounds and delivered five assists, showcasing his all-around skill for the Rams, who now hold a record of 17-5 and stand at 7-2 within the Atlantic 10 Conference. Joe Bamisile supported the effort with 10 points, converting 3 of 5 attempts, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc. Zeb Jackson also chipped in 10 points while shooting an efficient 3 of 5 overall, with 2 of 3 from three-point territory.
On the other side, the Spiders, who now hold a record of 7-15 and 2-7 in the conference, were led in scoring by Dusan Neskovic, who managed to put up 12 points. B. Artis White added eight points and snatched two steals for Richmond, while Jason Roche also contributed with eight points. Unfortunately for the Spiders, this defeat marked their seventh consecutive loss.
VCU took control of the game early, claiming the lead just over 17 minutes into the first half and maintaining it throughout. Shulga was particularly effective in the first half, leading all scorers with 14 points, helping the Rams establish a commanding 44-13 lead by halftime. The team continued to build on their advantage in the second half, even stretching the lead to 63-26 after a powerful 11-0 scoring run.
