BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a recent matchup, Alejandro Vasquez played a key role in leading UAB to a decisive victory over Charlotte, contributing 26 points off the bench in a 96-78 triumph.
Vasquez demonstrated his scoring prowess, making 10 of his 15 attempts, including one out of four from beyond the arc, and perfect from the charity stripe with five successful free throws. This victory improves UAB’s record to 14 wins and 8 losses, with a 7-2 standing in the American Athletic Conference.
Teammate Yaxel Lendeborg also had a standout performance, recording a double-double with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists. Tony Toney added 15 points to the team’s total, shooting 7 for 11 from the field and grabbing six rebounds.
For the 49ers, Giancarlo Rosado topped the scoring chart with 17 points while also dishing out 10 assists. Nik Graves contributed with 15 points, and Ben Bradford chipped in with 13 points as Charlotte fell to 8-14 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
The Blazers gained control of the game early, taking the lead at the 18:14 mark of the first half and maintaining their advantage throughout. By halftime, the score stood at 39-30, with Lendeborg scoring 10 points to help sustain the lead. In the second half, Vasquez continued to shine, netting 17 additional points to secure the win for his team.
