BERLIN — Harry Kane netted two goals as Bayern Munich nearly wasted a four-goal advantage against newly promoted Holsten Kiel, ultimately securing a 4-3 win in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Kiel made a valiant effort to stage a comeback with Steven Skrzybski scoring two goals in stoppage time, following a strike from Finn Porath that put them on the scoreboard.

Kane, who currently leads the league with 19 goals, scored once before and after halftime, while Jamal Musiala opened the scoring for Bayern in the 19th minute, assisted by Michael Olise.

Bayern seemed on track for a relaxing victory after Serge Gnabry, who came off the bench, controlled the ball before delivering a powerful volley equal to a goal in the 54th minute. However, then came Porath’s goal, and Skrzybski’s late contributions left the home side on edge.

“We’ll need to analyze the last 10 minutes with the team. Kiel never gave up and always believed in themselves,” stated Bayern coach Vincent Kompany.

Defending champions Bayer Leverkusen are set to aim for a six-point gap behind Bayern when they face Hoffenheim on Sunday.

After 20 matches, Kiel remains second from the bottom.

French forward Mathys Tel missed the game amid swirling rumors linking him to a loan deal with Manchester United.

Job done for Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund secured a 2-1 victory against Heidenheim, marking the club’s first league win since December under interim coach Mike Tullberg’s leadership. Serhou Guirassy and Maximilian Beier were the scorers for Dortmund, providing a much-needed boost.

Tullberg, who managed two wins and a draw during his brief tenure following Nuri Sahin’s dismissal, celebrated enthusiastically in front of the traveling fans.

“It’s not about me; it’s always about the club,” Tullberg reflected. “I was given a clear directive to bring in energy and oversee a turnaround, which we have successfully accomplished.”

Former Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt coach Niko Kova? will step in as the new coach on Sunday, allowing Tullberg to return to Dortmund’s Under-19 squad.

Union frustrated

Union Berlin struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, ending in a 0-0 stalemate with Leipzig, highlighting their urgent need for a striker to enhance their offense.

Croatian forward Marin Ljubi?i?, who currently plays for Austrian side LASK, was spotted at Union’s stadium ahead of an anticipated transfer.

The result moved Leipzig into fourth position, securing the final Champions League qualification spot, thanks to Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 2-1 victory over Stuttgart earlier in the day, propelling Leipzig one point above Stuttgart.

Union’s supporters kept mostly quiet for the opening 15 minutes, protesting against Leipzig’s origins, as the club was created in 2009 by an energy drink company to promote its product.

Additionally, Freiburg triumphed over Bochum 1-0, while St. Pauli managed a 1-1 draw with Augsburg.
