RIVERDALE, N.Y. — In an impressive display on Friday night, Will Sydnor scored 23 points, leading the Manhattan Jaspers to a convincing 76-55 victory over the Iona Gaels.
Sydnor also contributed significantly on the boards, grabbing six rebounds, which helped propel the Jaspers to a record of 10 wins and 9 losses, including 5 wins and 5 losses in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Masiah Gilyard was another key player for Manhattan, scoring 15 points with a shooting performance of 7 for 10, including 1 for 3 from beyond the arc, and he also had a solid presence on the glass with seven rebounds.
Devin Dinkins rounded out the scoring for the Jaspers with 11 points, making 3 of his 8 shots and hitting all 5 of his free throws, although he struggled from three-point range, failing to hit any of his four attempts.
For Iona, Dejour Reaves was the top scorer with 12 points, while Yaphet Moundi contributed 11 points in the losing effort.
Both teams are scheduled to play again on Sunday, with Manhattan traveling to face Sacred Heart while Iona will play host to Fairfield.
