SEATTLE — In an impressive display, Brandon Montour netted two goals during a powerful second period, leading the Seattle Kraken to a decisive 6-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday evening.
Along with Montour’s contributions, Chandler Stephenson, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Jaden Schwartz, and Eeli Tolvanen each scored for Seattle, while goaltender Joey Daccord made 26 saves throughout the match.
The Sharks managed to score twice through Carl Grundstrom and Tyler Toffoli but continued to struggle with their sixth loss in seven games.
Montour kicked off the second period with his first goal at 2:54, breaking a prolonged 20-game scoring drought and giving the Kraken an early 3-1 advantage. He found the net again at 7:52, extending Seattle’s lead to 5-1.
Stephenson had opened the scoring just 3:55 into the contest, but the Sharks equalized with Grundstrom’s goal, which deflected off Kraken center Shane Wright, just over two minutes before the first intermission.
In addition to his goal, Stephenson also tallied two assists in a standout performance.
Bjorkstrand’s goal at 17:57 of the second period secured Seattle’s lead for good, further solidifying their command over the game.
In goal, Yaroslav Askarov struggled, allowing four goals on only 11 shots before being replaced by Alexandar Georgiev, who recorded 20 saves for the Sharks.
