ORLANDO, Fla. — A Lim Kim delivered an impressive performance during the first round of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, part of the LPGA Tour season opener, by posting a flawless 7-under 65. This remarkable score has put her four shots ahead of the competition.

The 29-year-old player, who has claimed two victories on the LPGA Tour, including the prestigious U.S. Women’s Open in 2020, showcased her skill by birdying three out of her last five holes at Lake Nona. This solid finish helped her establish a commanding lead over fellow competitors Patty Tavatanakit and Jin Young Ko, both of whom carded 69s.

“I feel great about my game today. My shots were accurate, and my putting was solid. Overall, everything clicked well,” Kim expressed with satisfaction.

Though Kim has a residence in Orlando, she admitted to having limited practice sessions leading up to the tournament. “In January, my focus is usually on my physical condition rather than extensive practice. So, I was quite surprised by how well I played today,” she added.

Several players, including Rose Zhang, Yuka Saso, Hannah Green, and Celine Boutier, are all tied at 2-under par. Meanwhile, Nelly Korda, the top-ranked player in the world, started her round with a score of 71. Defending champion Lydia Ko, currently ranked second, had a challenging day on the greens, missing five putts from distances of 3 to 7 feet and finishing with a score of 73.

Former major league baseball pitcher Mark Mulder is leading the celebrity contingent at the event, having previously won the tournament back in 2017.
