Olean, N.Y. — In an impressive performance, Lajae Jones scored 23 points to help St. Bonaventure secure a 75-53 win against Dayton on Tuesday evening.

Jones also made a significant impact with seven rebounds, complementing his scoring for the Bonnies, who now hold a record of 16-6 and 4-5 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Melvin Council Jr. had a notable game as well, contributing 20 points along with five rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

On the Flyers’ side, Nate Santos was the leading scorer, collecting 12 points and seven rebounds. Enoch Cheeks also chipped in with 10 points to their efforts.

St. Bonaventure seized the lead with 13:04 left in the first half and managed to maintain it throughout the game. Jones delivered a strong first-half performance with 16 points, propelling his team to a 39-32 advantage at halftime. The Bonnies significantly widened their lead in the second half, executing a dominant 16-1 run that turned a narrow four-point edge into a commanding 19-point lead. In total, they outscored Dayton by 15 points during the final period, with Council leading his team by scoring 14 points in the second half.

Looking ahead, St. Bonaventure will host Fordham this Saturday, while Dayton is set to face Saint Louis on Friday.
