PARIS — Renowned fashion designer Giorgio Armani celebrated two decades of his haute couture line, Armani Privé, during a lavish show in the sophisticated 8th arrondissement of Paris on Tuesday. At the age of 90, Armani presented a collection that delved deep into the rich history of craftsmanship, moving several guests to tears as they witnessed the designer take his final bow.

“Haute couture is fashion when it becomes art,” stated Armani, encapsulating the spirit of Privé, which he introduced in January 2005. The line’s name conveys a sense of rarity and exclusivity, serving as an exhibition for intricate artistry and timeless designs, as noted by the fashion house.

This spring 2025 collection harkened back to notable elements from the earlier days of Armani Privé, resulting in a display that was both unapologetically glamorous and emotionally resonant.

Among the standout pieces was a segmented black gown adorned with silver threads, which shimmered brilliantly like oil. Asian-inspired fitted jackets dazzled viewers with their intricate embroidery, while full skirts, encrusted with lavish crystals, added dimension and heft, creating an audible swish as models made their way down the runway.

Pearls, symbolizing peace and serenity—a recurring theme in Armani’s work—played a significant role throughout the collection, serving as both adornments and a nod to his artistic vision.

The venue itself, the palazzo Armani, with its opulent gold-gilded ceilings, provided a majestic yet cozy atmosphere for the occasion. Attendees, including celebrities like Demi Moore and Jessica Biel, were seen enjoying the lively rhythm of the music that filled the space.

While the collection showcased Armani’s hallmark blend of creativity and restraint, some pieces drew heavily from his familiar motifs, illustrating the designer’s commitment to his established aesthetic. This sense of continuity only enhanced the timeless essence of the designs, reminding everyone present of the vital place that Privé holds within the world of haute couture.

The most poignant moment of the evening occurred during the finale when Giorgio Armani himself stepped onto the runway for his bow. As he slowly walked the length of the runway, the nonagenarian designer was met with a standing ovation from many in the audience, who were visibly moved by the occasion.
