PARIS —

Julien Fournié showcased a remarkable show on Tuesday at the Théâtre Mogador, unveiling “First Circus,” a bold haute couture presentation that intriguingly merged fashion with performance art. The event was a mesmerizing display that was both whimsical and captivating, serving as a fitting homage to the designer’s youthful imagination and love for theatricality.

Elements of Gothic style infused a menacing tone into the event, notably in a form-fitting checked gown accented with black panels. The model, her face painted in a haunting manner and hair jet black, paraded down the runway like a burlesque ghost, embodying a captivating blend of high fashion and carnival playfulness.

The playful atmosphere continued with a model sporting a shiny suit jacket paired with a rabbit mask, who joyously sprayed glitter across the audience, epitomizing the exuberant spirit of the collection. Just as the performance reached a crescendo of chaos, a woman donned in an oversized pink tutu, complete with a helmet and knee pads, rolled onto the runway, reinforcing Fournié’s dedication to reshaping haute couture through humor, boldness, and drama.

“This collection,” Fournié stated, “is a tribute to the imagination, a nod to the shy child I once was, who dreamed up incredible characters away from the watchful gaze of others.”

Through this collection, Fournié vividly brought to life a captivating mix of personalities—including superheroes, aliens, and witches—each brought forth with meticulous craftsmanship and cutting-edge techniques.
