OMAHA, Neb. — Marquel Sutton emerged as a standout player for Omaha, racking up 24 points as the Mavericks triumphed over St. Thomas with a score of 89-78 on Thursday night. This win marks Omaha’s eighth consecutive victory, demonstrating their hot streak in the season.

Sutton not only led the scoring but also contributed with nine rebounds, helping to solidify the Mavericks’ position in the Summit League with a record of 12-9 overall and 6-0 in conference play. JJ White also made a significant impact, contributing 15 points; he went 5 for 11 shooting and managed to connect on 1 of 3 attempts from beyond the arc, as well as sinking 4 of 6 free throws. Ja’Sean Glover complemented the effort with 14 points from 4 of 12 shooting, including a 1 for 5 performance from three-point territory, along with a solid 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.

On the other hand, the Tommies (15-6, 5-1) were led by Kendall Blue, who logged 18 points and nine rebounds. Miles Barnstable and Ben Nau supported the effort with 14 and 11 points, respectively. However, the defeat marked the end of St. Thomas’s five-game winning streak, reflecting a challenging matchup against a well-performing Omaha squad.
