Kansas, ranked 12th, rallies from a 14-point deficit to defeat TCU 74-61

FORT WORTH, Texas — In a thrilling matchup, the 12th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks overcame a 14-point deficit in the first half to secure a 74-61 victory against TCU on Wednesday night. Hunter Dickinson led the charge for Kansas, scoring 16 points and contributing to the team’s strong offensive performance.

The Jayhawks, who now hold a record of 14-4 overall and 5-2 in the Big 12, saw AJ Storr come alive in the second half, netting 10 of his 12 points after halftime. Storr’s pivotal stepback jumper at the 11:30 mark gave Kansas the lead for good, shaking off earlier turnovers to spur a 14-2 run that he capped with another jumper.

Zeke Mayo and Shakeel Moore also made significant contributions, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively. Meanwhile, Flory Bidunga achieved his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to recording four blocked shots.

Noah Reynolds led TCU (10-8, 3-4) with 14 points. The Horned Frogs have struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over their last eight games. Vasean Allette added 13 points and Brendan Wenzel chipped in with 11 points.

A notable moment in the game came when Kansas was down by 14 points midway through the first half. Mayo’s jumper tied the game at 33 just before halftime, reflecting the Jayhawks’ resilience. Despite their struggles earlier in the season, this performance marks Kansas’s lowest ranking to date.

TCU faced disappointment as they missed a chance to secure their second straight victory against a Top 25 opponent, following their recent win against then-No. 25 Baylor on Sunday.

A key moment occurred when Dickinson and TCU’s Trazarien White were both assessed technical fouls after a tangle for a rebound. TCU retained possession thanks to the review and subsequent alley-oop dunk from Reynolds, putting TCU ahead 48-47 with 12:44 remaining in the game—this marked their final lead.

In a crucial statistic, TCU struggled at the end of the game, missing their last six shots and managing only two free throws in the final 3:37.

Looking ahead, Kansas will host No. 7 Houston, the current Big 12 leader, on Saturday, while TCU will be on the road to face UCF on the same day.
