FAIRFIELD, Conn. – In an exciting match on Saturday, Paul McMillan IV delivered a standout performance for Canisius, scoring 31 points to help his team defeat Fairfield 78-67.
McMillan’s shooting was impressive, as he made 9 of his 16 attempts from the field, including 2 of 3 from beyond the arc. Additionally, he excelled at the free-throw line, converting 11 of 14 attempts for the Golden Griffins, who now hold a record of 2-16 overall and 2-5 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Supporting McMillan, Tana Kopa also made significant contributions, netting 21 points. Kopa’s shooting was well-rounded, going 7 for 13 from the field, hitting 5 of 10 from three-point distance, and sinking 2 of 3 free-throws. He complemented his scoring with five rebounds. Jasman Sangha rounded out a strong effort from Canisius with 13 points on 6 of 11 shooting.
On the Fairfield side, Jamie Bergens was the top scorer for the Stags, totaling 17 points. The team also relied on Prophet Johnson, who scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. Deon Perry chipped in with 12 points to support the effort.
