Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus set to have surgery for ACL injury

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus will be undergoing surgery due to an ACL injury he sustained during the team’s FA Cup match against Manchester United last Sunday.

The Premier League club confirmed the injury to the Brazil international after conducting scans on his left knee on Tuesday.

In an official statement, Arsenal announced, “Gabby will undergo surgery in the coming days and will soon begin his recovery and rehabilitation program.”

While a specific timeline for his return has not been disclosed, he is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Earlier, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had expressed concern regarding the severity of the forward’s injury, stating that it was “not looking good at all.”

As Arsenal prepares to host Tottenham on Wednesday, they are already dealing with the absence of Bukayo Saka, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Arteta noted that the team is “actively looking in the market to improve the squad” as the January transfer window approaches.

“It would be naive not to do that because it is always an opportunity to evolve the team and improve the squad, especially considering the current circumstances,” he explained.

He added, “So yes, we are looking and we are trying, and let’s see what we are able to do.”
