New Mexico State triumphs over UTEP with a score of 85-57

EL PASO, Texas — Zawdie Jackson played a pivotal role in New Mexico State’s commanding 85-57 triumph over UTEP on Saturday evening, contributing 18 points to the team’s performance.

In addition to his scoring, Jackson also recorded five assists for the Aggies (10-6, 3-0 Conference USA). Robert Carpenter was another key player, bringing in 17 points with an efficient shooting performance of 8 for 12, including 1 for 3 from the three-point range, alongside five rebounds. Peter Filipovity contributed significantly as well, scoring 15 points with a shooting line of 6 for 11 (0 for 3 from beyond the arc) and successfully making 3 of 4 free throws, in addition to grabbing nine rebounds. With this victory, the Aggies extended their impressive winning streak to six games.

On the other side, UTEP (12-4, 2-1) saw its leading scorer, David Terrell Jr., finish the night with 17 points and five assists. The Miners also received valuable contributions from Otis Frazier III, who added 13 points and recorded four blocks, while Devon Barnes rounded out the scoring with nine points. This defeat marked the end of a six-game winning streak for UTEP.

New Mexico State held a solid 38-25 advantage at halftime, with Filipovity demonstrating his offensive prowess by scoring nine points before the break. In the second half, the Aggies further amplified their lead to 67-41, thanks to a dominant 13-0 run. Jackson emerged as a standout in the final period, scoring a team-high 13 points, helping his team secure the victory convincingly.
