MOBILE, Ala. — In a thrilling overtime matchup, Sean Durugordon showcased his skills by scoring 27 points, helping lead Old Dominion to a 71-63 victory over South Alabama on Saturday night.
Durugordon also contributed significantly on the boards, securing 18 rebounds for the Monarchs, who now stand at an overall record of 8-9 and an impressive 4-1 within the Sun Belt Conference. Robert Davis Jr. also had a remarkable night, scoring 25 points with a shooting performance of 8 for 22 from the floor, including 8 for 20 from beyond the arc.
On the other side of the court, South Alabama, now with a record of 12-5 and matching the Monarchs at 4-1 in the conference, was led in scoring by Myles Corey. He tallied 20 points while adding four assists and two steals to his performance. Teammate Barry Dunning Jr. contributed with 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while JJ Wheat chipped in with 12 points. Despite a strong start, the Jaguars struggled in overtime, failing to score as they missed all eight of their field goal attempts and one free throw. This marked the end of their five-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, Old Dominion is set to face Appalachian State at home on Thursday, while South Alabama will host Southern Miss on Wednesday.
