HUNTINGTON, W. Va. — In an impressive display of skill, Mikal Dawson scored 21 points, aiding Marshall in their victory over Georgia Southern with a final score of 81-69 on Saturday evening.

Dawson’s shooting was notable, going 6 for 12 from the field, including 5 for 10 from beyond the arc. He also excelled at the free-throw line, making all four attempts. The Thundering Herd, now with a record of 10-8 overall and 3-2 in the Sun Belt Conference, saw additional contributions from Nate Martin, who added 18 points. Martin had an efficient shooting night, making 6 of 7 attempts from the floor and also showing his prowess on the boards with 13 rebounds, alongside four blocks. Dezayne Mingo also contributed significantly, scoring 17 points with a shooting accuracy of 6 of 9 from the field and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line.

On the opposing side, Nakavieon White was the standout player for the Eagles, scoring 22 points and recording two blocks. His teammates also contributed, with Bradley Douglas adding 14 points to the total and making two steals in the process. Dontae Horne rounded out the scoring for Georgia Southern with seven points and contributed with two steals.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Thursday. Marshall will travel to face James Madison, while Georgia Southern will hit the road to take on Coastal Carolina.
