Election authorities in New York are being prompted to investigate potential voter fraud involving Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who reportedly cast his ballot from an unreliable address. This scrutiny arises as Kennedy aims for Senate confirmation to assume a key public health position within the Trump administration, following his bid for the presidency as an independent candidate.

The progressive watchdog group Accountable.US has formally requested that the state’s Division of Election Law Enforcement look into whether Kennedy committed any offenses by submitting a mail-in ballot from a location in the affluent suburbs of New York City. A ruling from a state judge last summer disqualified Kennedy from appearing on the presidential ballot in New York, determining that the rented room in Katonah he cited as his residence was a “sham” and did not substantiate his claims of legal residency.

The judge found that Kennedy, a member of the prominent Democratic family, primarily resides in California with his spouse, Cheryl Hines, known for her role on “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Following this judgment, Kennedy’s attempts to challenge the ruling were unsuccessful.

According to a recent filing with the elections office, public records indicate that Kennedy registered to vote at the same disputed address last November and utilized a mail-in ballot. The complaint asserts that Kennedy, being aware of the court’s findings regarding his residency status at the Katonah location, still proceeded to vote from there. This claim was detailed in a complaint submitted on Monday, which stated, “As the defendant in this case, Mr. Kennedy was clearly aware of the verdicts holding that he was not a legal resident of this Katonah address. Despite this undisputed knowledge, Mr. Kennedy voted from the property anyway.”

Kennedy is currently President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to lead the Department of Health and Human Services and is anticipated to encounter rigorous questioning regarding his controversial anti-vaccine position during his confirmation hearings.

An inquiry was directed to the New York election enforcement division seeking comments on the matter, while attempts to reach out to Trump’s transition team and Kennedy’s former campaign spokesperson were also made for clarification.

During his testimony in the earlier case, Kennedy explained that he relocated to California roughly ten years ago to join his wife and that he had always intended to return to New York. He mentioned renting a room in a friend’s house in Katonah, situated around 40 miles (65 kilometers) north of Midtown Manhattan, claiming that due to his extensive travel for campaigning, he had only managed to spend a single night there.
