Ivanka Trump, who has spent her adult life working closely with her father, former and incoming President Donald Trump, has firmly stated that her political journey is over. After leaving the White House in January 2021, Ivanka, along with her husband Jared Kushner, chose to retreat from the political spotlight and build a private life in Miami.
A decisive break from politics
In a 2022 social media post, Ivanka emphasized her commitment to her family, stating, “I love my father very much. This time around I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics.”
This decision remains steadfast, even after her father’s 2024 election victory. Friends and insiders say Ivanka is focused on raising her children and pursuing personal interests, distancing herself from the demands and scrutiny of the political world.
“Politics is… a pretty dark world. There’s a lot of darkness, a lot of negativity,” Ivanka said in a July interview. “For me and my family, it feels right to not participate.”
Life in Miami
Since relocating to Florida, Ivanka and her family have embraced a quieter lifestyle, moving from a Surfside condo to a mansion on the exclusive Indian Creek Island. She has taken up new hobbies, including jiu-jitsu, surfing, and gardening, while actively participating in her children’s lives.
“She loves being with her children, and she’s found a lot of peace and happiness in her private life,” said Maggie Cordish, a longtime friend.
Staying close to family
Though Ivanka has stepped away from public political roles, she remains close to her father and serves as an informal adviser. However, her involvement is expected to remain behind the scenes.
“She’s still his daughter and a trusted voice,” Cordish noted.
Jared Kushner, while also avoiding a formal political role, is expected to continue advising Donald Trump on Middle East affairs, leveraging his close relationships with regional leaders.
Volunteer work and new ventures
Ivanka has shifted her focus to community service and nonprofit work. She has volunteered with organizations supporting disaster relief, food security, and refugees, including efforts to aid Ukrainian refugees and victims of the Hawaii wildfires.
“She’ll continue to work with us on helping victims of disasters and wars,” said Dave Donaldson, president of CityServe. “Why does somebody need to be in government to do that?”
In addition to her philanthropic endeavors, Ivanka and Jared have returned to real estate development, including a luxury project on a 1,400-acre Albanian island. Ivanka has also explored investment opportunities in areas of personal interest.
A new chapter
With her political chapter firmly closed, Ivanka Trump is redefining her public image. While her time in Washington left a complex legacy, her current focus on family, community, and personal ventures marks a significant shift from her previous role as one of her father’s closest political advisers.
As she embraces this new phase, Ivanka remains committed to her family and the private life she has worked to create, saying, “It’s what feels right for me and my family.”
