OMAHA, Neb. — On Sunday, Nebraska’s Governor Jim Pillen sustained injuries after being thrown from a horse and will require hospitalization for a few days.
The incident occurred while Pillen was spending time with his family. According to reports from the governor’s office, he was aboard a new horse when he was bucked off. He was initially taken to a hospital located in Columbus, Nebraska, before being transferred to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha for further treatment.
The governor remains conscious and alert, maintaining communication with his staff during his recovery. His medical team anticipates that he will remain hospitalized in Omaha for several days as they monitor his condition.
At 68 years of age, Pillen took office as governor in 2022. Prior to his political career, he was engaged in veterinary work and operated a livestock business, highlighting a background deeply rooted in agriculture and animal care.
