Salah breaks a new scoring record, leading Liverpool to triumph against Tottenham

LONDON — Should this season mark the conclusion of Mohamed Salah’s tenure at Liverpool, he is certainly making it an unforgettable one.

The Egyptian forward showcased his remarkable talent by netting two goals and assisting in two others during Liverpool’s thrilling 6-3 victory over Tottenham on Sunday.

With this performance, Salah has made history by becoming the first player in Premier League history to achieve double figures in both goals and assists prior to Christmas, as noted by stats provider Opta.

“I didn’t think about it before the game, to be fair,” Salah remarked. “But it’s something that makes me happy and proud. I just keep working hard.”

With a total of 15 goals this season, Salah currently leads all players in scoring, with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland trailing behind at 13 goals.

Salah has previously claimed the Golden Boot as the Premier League’s top scorer three times—first solo in the 2017-18 season and then sharing the accolade in both the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons.

As his contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, he was questioned about any updates regarding his contract status following the match. He simply replied, “No.”
