LANDOVER, Md. — In a key matchup for postseason positioning, tight end Zach Ertz is set to play for the Washington Commanders against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday, just one week after he exited the previous game against New Orleans due to a concussion.

Both Ertz and safety Jeremy Chinn have successfully passed through the concussion protocol and are cleared to participate. Coach Dan Quinn confirmed on Friday that the only player ruled out for the game is defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, who has been on injured reserve following surgery to mend a torn pectoral muscle and is eligible to return soon. This situation paves the way for both Ertz and Chinn to take the field, especially in a contest that may determine Washington’s chances of making the playoffs.

At 34 years old, Ertz is squaring off against his former team, the Eagles, for only the second time this season. He previously played for Philadelphia for over eight seasons and was instrumental in their Super Bowl victory during the 2017 season.

This season, Ertz has emerged as a crucial target for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, trailing only Terry McLaurin in receptions. He has recorded 54 catches, amassed 526 receiving yards, and found the end zone four times.

The Commanders can secure a playoff berth with a win while hoping for losses from both Atlanta and either Seattle or the Los Angeles Rams. On the other side, the Eagles are aiming for their 11th consecutive win, which would clinch the NFC East title and solidify their position among the top seeds in the conference.

Additionally, Commanders cornerback Michael Davis did not participate in the game, marking a healthy scratch during Marshon Lattimore’s second appearance with the team. For the Eagles, A.J. Brown, who faced limited practice due to a knee concern late last week, has expressed confidence and will be on the field for the game.
