SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Authorities in Northern California have arrested a man suspected of killing his 1-year-old son in an extremely violent incident, according to reports from the local sheriff’s office.
On Friday, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement detailing the events that led to the arrest of 28-year-old Andrey Demskiy. Deputies responded to a report of a family disturbance early in the morning and encountered a woman outside a home who informed them that her husband had attacked both her and her mother.
Upon learning that Demskiy was inside the residence with the child, deputies forcibly entered the home. Once they apprehended him, they discovered the severed head of the child in a bedroom where Demskiy had been located. Detectives indicated that he allegedly used a knife to commit the horrific act after his wife and mother-in-law had left the premises.
Demskiy was taken into custody without the option for bail and is set to make his court appearance on Tuesday. The sheriff’s office, along with the county’s public defender’s office, have not provided any updates regarding whether Demskiy has retained legal counsel who could offer comments on the case.
This tragic event has left the community in shock as they grapple with the details of such a brutal crime. Authorities continue to gather evidence and conduct interviews as the investigation progresses.
