Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler has been ruled out for the game against the Orlando Magic due to an illness, as announced by the team on Saturday afternoon.
During the previous night’s match against Oklahoma City, Butler exited early in the first quarter after sustaining what initially seemed to be an injury to his left ankle. He did not return to the game, which ended in a 104-97 defeat for the Heat. Following the loss, the team confirmed that his absence was due to illness rather than the ankle issue.
Butler was coming off an impressive performance earlier in the week where he recorded a triple-double, scoring 35 points, grabbing 19 rebounds, and providing 10 assists in a loss to Detroit. During that game, he also managed to secure four steals without committing a single turnover. Notably, Butler achieved this remarkable feat, becoming one of the few players in NBA history to accomplish such statistics without any turnovers since they began being officially recorded in 1977.
This marks Butler’s sixth game missed this season, and it’s the first time he has sat out since December 2 against Boston. His absence will undoubtedly be felt by the team as they seek to compete in the ongoing season.
