Joe Nugent scored 20 points, leading Holy Cross to a 78-70 victory over Siena on Friday night.
Nugent showcased his shooting skills, making six of ten attempts from the field, including an impressive six out of nine from beyond the arc, contributing to the Crusaders’ (7-5) win. Max Green also played a crucial role, adding 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting, including three from the three-point line, while providing six assists. Caleb Kenney supported the team with 13 points, connecting 4 out of 9 from the field and making 5 of 6 free throws.
On the opposite side, Marcus Jackson was the standout performer for the Saints (5-7, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), contributing 17 points. Justice Shoats matched Jackson’s effort with another 17 points, while Major Freeman contributed 13 points along with seven rebounds.
At halftime, Holy Cross held a narrow lead over Siena, 27-23, with Aidan Richard being the top scorer for the Crusaders at the break with nine points. The game shifted in the second half when Jaiden Feroah’s free throw with 18:19 remaining gave Holy Cross a decisive lead at 31-30, which they maintained for the rest of the game.
Looking ahead, Holy Cross is set to play against Regis (MA) at home on Sunday, while Siena will make its way to Cornell for a matchup on Monday.
