CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — In an exciting matchup on Thursday night, Southeast Missouri State emerged victorious against Eastern Illinois with a score of 79-72, thanks in large part to Tedrick Washington Jr., who scored an impressive 28 points.
Washington’s performance was not just about scoring; he also contributed significantly on the boards with 10 rebounds for the Redhawks, who improved their record to 5-6 overall and 1-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Brendan Terry played a key role as well, finishing the game with 13 points, shooting an efficient 6 of 8 from the field, although he struggled at the free-throw line, hitting only 1 of 5 attempts. The Redhawks showcased their defensive prowess too, recording three blocks in the game. Elliot Lowndes also made a notable impact, going a perfect 4 of 4 from the floor to add eight points to the team’s total.
For the Panthers, who now hold a record of 3-8 and 0-1 in conference play, Nakyel Shelton was their top performer with 17 points and three steals. Kooper Jacobi had a solid all-around game, contributing 15 points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. Zion Fruster also scored 15 points, rounding out the Panthers’ offensive effort.
