SAN ANTONIO — In a commanding display, Damari Monsanto contributed significantly to the UTSA Roadrunners’ victory over Southwestern Adventist, finishing the game with an impressive 22-point performance in a 117-58 win on Thursday.

Monsanto not only led in scoring but also recorded six rebounds for the Roadrunners, bringing their overall record to 6-5. Alongside him, Sky Wicks showcased his skill with 20 points, shooting an efficient 8 for 12 from the floor, which included 4 for 7 from three-point territory. Wicks also added eight rebounds and three steals to his impressive stat line. Amir “Primo” Spears contributed by scoring 16 points, making 5 of 10 attempts from the field and going 5 for 6 from the free-throw line, although he struggled a bit from beyond the arc with just one successful attempt out of five.

On the opposing side, Southwestern Adventist saw notable performances from Domonique Wilkins and Orlando Gooden, who each scored 19 points. Additionally, Jason Garcia made his presence felt with 13 points, along with four assists and two steals.

Monsanto was instrumental in establishing an early lead for the Roadrunners, scoring 16 points during the first half. By the time they reached halftime, UTSA was comfortably ahead with a score of 61-24. The second half saw the Roadrunners extend their dominance to 87-38, thanks to a decisive 13-3 scoring run. Wicks was particularly effective in the second half, leading the team with 10 points.

This victory reflects the Roadrunners’ strong season performance and highlights individual players’ contributions to the lopsided scoreline.
