POCATELLO, Idaho — In a solid performance, Carter Welling scored 23 points to lead Utah Valley to a 70-56 win over Idaho State on Wednesday evening.
Welling contributed significantly to the team’s efforts, collecting nine rebounds and recording three blocks during the game. The Wolverines, now holding a record of 6-6, had other notable performances as well, with Dominick Nelson chipping in 14 points. Nelson made 4 of 8 attempts from the field and was particularly effective from the free-throw line, hitting 6 out of 8 shots. Jackson Holcombe also played a key role, adding 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
On the other side, Idaho State’s Jake O’Neil was impressive, finishing the game with 21 points and 14 rebounds, showcasing his skill on both ends of the court. Isaiah Griffin supported the Bengals (5-6) with 11 points, while AJ Burgin contributed 10 points along with four assists to bolster the team’s overall performance.
Looking ahead, Utah Valley will face Weber State on Saturday in an away game, while Idaho State is set to visit Northern Arizona on Thursday, aiming to improve their season standing.
