BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The UAB Blazers secured a convincing 96-67 victory against Alabama A&M on Wednesday night, largely thanks to a standout performance from Christian Coleman, who racked up 25 points in the game.
In addition to his scoring, Coleman contributed 11 rebounds, playing a crucial role in the victory for the Blazers (6-6). Efrem Johnson also made an impact, scoring 15 points with an impressive shooting performance, hitting 4 of 7 attempts from the field, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, along with connecting on 3 out of 4 free throws. Ja’Borri McGhee matched Johnson’s scoring total of 15 points while also recording four steals and shooting 5 of 14 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
For Alabama A&M (4-7), Jaylen Colon was the top scorer with 12 points. Chad Moodie contributed 11 points, along with six rebounds and three blocks, while Lorenzo Downey also tallied 11 points in the contest.
UAB took control of the game with just over 13 minutes left in the first half and never looked back. By halftime, they had built a commanding 57-28 lead, with Coleman netting 16 points at that point. The Blazers further extended their lead early in the second half, going on an 8-0 run that pushed their advantage from 24 to 32 points. They maintained this momentum throughout the rest of the game, with McGhee leading the scoring in the second half with 12 points to help seal the win.
