LOGAN, Utah — In an exciting matchup, Tyler McGhie led the UCSD Tritons to a narrow 75-73 victory over Utah State on Tuesday night, scoring a remarkable 26 points.
Alongside his scoring prowess, McGhie also contributed six rebounds and three steals to enhance the team’s performance.
Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones had a solid game as well, netting 20 points and grabbing six rebounds, while Hayden Gray made an impressive impact, shooting 5-for-6 from the field and sinking all four of his free throws, finishing with 15 points.
This victory marked the eighth consecutive win for the Tritons, boosting their season record to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big West Conference.
On the other side, Karson Templin emerged as the top scorer for the Aggies, contributing 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Mason Falslev played a pivotal role for Utah State with 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and four steals, while Deyton Albury added 15 points to the total.
Unfortunately for the Aggies, this loss halted their impressive 10-game winning streak, leaving them with a record of 10-1 and 1-0 in the Mountain West Conference.
During the game, McGhie showcased his skills by scoring 11 points in the first half, however, UCSD fell behind with a halftime score of 39-32 in favor of Utah State.
In the second half, McGhie stepped up significantly, delivering 15 points in a crucial stretch to secure a two-point win for his team.
Looking ahead, UCSD is set to face San Diego on the road this Saturday, while Utah State will travel to play against Saint Mary’s in California on Sunday.
