BATON ROUGE, La. — In a commanding performance, LSU triumphed over Stetson with a decisive score of 99-53 on Tuesday night. Cam Carter and Vyctorius Miller both contributed significantly to the victory, each scoring 16 points, while Dji Bailey added 14 points to the scoreboard. Corey Chest and Curtis Givens III also made their marks with 13 and 12 points, respectively, showcasing the depth of LSU’s lineup. Overall, the LSU bench managed to net 13 field goals, which was striking compared to Stetson’s total of only 18.
The Hatters, now 1-10, found a silver lining in guard Mehki Ellison, who delivered an impressive performance, scoring a game-high and career-best 23 points with a shooting accuracy of 9-for-18. Additionally, reserve player Jordan Wood contributed with 10 points, but outside of Ellison and Wood, the support was minimal.
LSU wasted no time establishing dominance in the game, racing to a 17-0 lead in just over nine minutes. It wasn’t until the 10:19 mark in the first half that Stetson managed to score, thanks to a jump shot from Ellison. Following that, the Hatters struggled offensively, failing to convert for another 5.5 minutes until Tristan Gross managed a three-pointer, trimming the gap to 29-5. By halftime, LSU had built an imposing lead of 47-10.
Looking ahead, Stetson will seek to break its 10-game losing streak when it plays against NCCAA team Fort Lauderdale on Sunday. Meanwhile, LSU, which has enjoyed a home-court advantage with seven of its first 11 games being played at home, is set to host New Orleans on the same day.
