LAS VEGAS — Hubie Brown, a revered figure in basketball broadcasting, is set to conclude his illustrious career at the age of 91 on February 9.
In a poignant twist of fate, Brown’s final game will take place in Milwaukee, the very city where he embarked on his professional coaching journey back in 1972.
The game will feature the Milwaukee Bucks going head-to-head against the Philadelphia 76ers, serving as a prelude to that day’s Super Bowl festivities.
During this highly anticipated matchup, Brown will join Mike Breen in the broadcast booth, with Breen handling play-by-play commentary.
The announcement was made by ESPN during the exciting conclusion of the NBA Cup final event held in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening.
Brown, who has earned the distinction of being named NBA Coach of the Year twice, has coached several teams, including the New York Knicks, Memphis Grizzlies, and the Atlanta Hawks.
His affiliation with ESPN began in 2004 and has since become a staple in basketball commentary.
ESPN has stated that the network plans to celebrate Brown’s impressive legacy during the broadcast, which encompasses more than five decades of involvement with the NBA and over 35 years working as a national analyst for television and radio.
This final game will not only mark the end of an era for Brown but also highlight his immense contributions to the sport.
