MEXICO CITY — Tragedy struck in the western region of Michoacan, Mexico, as an American couple lost their lives in a shooting incident. Officials confirmed their nationality on Saturday, revealing that the victims were Rafael Cardona and Gloria Ambriz, who were visiting the area.

According to state prosecutors, the couple was shot while sitting in their pickup truck, which was targeted by gunfire. While investigations into the incident are ongoing, authorities have not disclosed any information regarding the identity of the shooters or the motive behind the attack. The violent episode took place on Wednesday evening in the town of Angamacutiro.

Local government officials confirmed that Cardona was the brother-in-law of the town’s mayor, leading to the cancellation of public events that were planned for the Christmas season.
