Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — Lee Chieh-po, known as “Max,” showcased a remarkable performance on Saturday at the LIV Golf Promotions, finishing with a 7-under 64 in the morning and a 68 in the afternoon, securing his victory. With this win, the 30-year-old golfer from Taiwan earned himself a coveted spot in the prestigious LIV Golf League for the upcoming year.

Max’s outstanding play included birdies on four of his final five holes, allowing him to triumph by two strokes over competitors Branden Grace and Taichi Kho. Notably, he is the only player from this promotions event to gain entry into LIV Golf.

This achievement marks a significant milestone as Lee becomes the first Taiwanese golfer to attain full membership in the Saudi-backed league. Prior to this success, he mainly participated in the Asian Tour and various smaller tournaments across Asia, clinching his first professional victory earlier this year at the International Series Thailand within the Asian Tour.

Additionally, players who finished in the top 10 of the event will receive exemptions to compete in all 10 tournaments on next year’s International Series. Branden Grace, who faced setbacks leading to his relegation from the league, may have the opportunity to rejoin the Stinger team within LIV Golf.

The top 10 included Scott Vincent from Zimbabwe, who also faced relegation from LIV, as well as Ollie Schniederjans, a former No. 1 amateur whose aspirations on the PGA Tour have been hampered by ongoing injury concerns. This event not only provided a platform for emerging talent like Lee but also highlights the challenges that seasoned players like Grace and Vincent continue to navigate in their careers.
