STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Yanic Konan Niederhauser contributed significantly with 14 points, while Ace Baldwin Jr. made history by setting a new assist record for the program, leading Penn State to a decisive 99-51 victory over Coppin State this past Saturday.

Baldwin, in his fifth year, registered his fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 11 points and an impressive 16 assists—his personal best. This achievement surpassed the previous single-game assists record of 15 held by Tom Doaty since January 29, 1975, when he accomplished it against Syracuse.

Demonstrating an effective playmaking ability, Baldwin ended the game with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4-1, recording only four turnovers throughout the contest. Notably, his number of assists exceeded the total assists recorded by the entire Coppin State team.

In addition to Baldwin’s performance, Puff Johnson and bench player Nick Kern Jr. each added 12 points, while D’Marco Dunn and Dominick Stewart contributed 10 points apiece for the Nittany Lions, who now hold a record of 9-2.

Coppin State, still struggling at 0-12, saw Peter Oduro lead their scoring with 15 points, with Toby Nnadozie and his bench mate Jonathan Dunn each chipping in 10 points as well.

The game started explosively for Penn State, as they quickly surged to a 19-4 lead within the first four-and-a-half minutes. The Nittany Lions extended their lead to an overwhelming 36-8 with under eight minutes remaining in the first half, shooting 63.6% by making 14 of their first 22 attempts. Remarkably, they had nine players score just eight minutes into the game, showing depth in their lineup. A layup from Johnson increased their lead to 38-8, marking Penn State’s first 30-point advantage of the contest.

Heading into halftime, Penn State led 52-21 and had compiled 15 assists on 21 field goals. They came close to hitting the century mark, managing nearly 100 points for the fourth time in just 11 games this season.
